Will and Right: Religion Politics and Gay Marriage - FULL

On February 24th, 2004 President George W. Bush announced his support for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. Three days later in response to the President's words and inspired by events in Massachusetts, Village of New Paltz Mayor, Jason West, began solemnizing same-sex marriages in Upstate NY. Will & Right takes a deeper look into those fighting for equality and the effects it has on individuals, family values and the nation.

During the course of shooting this film we were able to meet so many interesting people; People working very hard to gain the same rights and freedoms that other Americans have. Actor/Activist Harvey Fierstein provided an interview as only he can, and many couples welcomed us into their homes to film first hand family life for gay/lesbian couples. Part of the film also captures history in the making as we document the 1st gay marriages in NY State at the Village of New Paltz, cover protests, speakers and the 2004 Pride Parade in NYC.

As religion takes a stronger role in American politics I think it is important that people get to see first hand how factoring prejudice into the US Constitution can effect real people, with real families and real love.

@G41MCombo The fact is that gays are not sterile (like many heterosexuals are). A further fact is that unwanted, unloved children are overwhelmingly dumped onto society by heterosexuals. Another fact: Child abuse and molestation is committed almost exclusively by biological parents of the victims.

The facts about gays and homosexuality is that there really isn't any problem...other than the ones YOU and your fellow homophobes are so desperately fabricating!

Ditto to Rebecca and Julia, who, along with Jason, made the first Green Party majority municipal board in New York. With Greens in control of just this tiny villagem they changed the history of New York - and the nation - forever. Imagine what we could do if we got Cynthia McKinney elected to the White House next year!!!

God is coming to slaughter. Yeah great message. Why is it those who "speak for god" are always full of hate? It's for god to judge if its wrong not you. Love thy brother, forgivness? How is it they can spout verses (usually incorrectly) but can't love and forgive. The world isnt your problem its god's. Hell what happens when you get married?You stay at home more and dont go out as much. You'd think if they dont like gays they'd encourage them to get married.
