This is a compilation of videos and pictures of the illegal removal of friable asbestos in Manila Thermal Power Plant, which is very close to Adamson University, residential areas and manufacturing plants. All violations that can possibly be committed are being committed. There is zero regard to safety and health of the workers inside the demolition site, their families and the nearby community. HUNDREDS of demolition workers have been exposed to horrifying amounts of asbestos, unaware of just how lethal asbestos is.

Asbestos is a silent and invisible killer. It may be lethal even with exposure at levels not seen by the naked eye. A person may be exposed to asbestos for only a short time, but many years later, he will be diagnosed with lung cancer, asbestosis or other asbestos-related diseases. For more information about asbestos hazards, see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jifoNSXvTuQ

For a comparison on how asbestos should be removed, see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cI-9M90D8yU

Removal was made by Waste Solutions & Management Services, Inc. or WSMSI

  • In the philippines there is no idea or knowledge of health and safety in all aspects of even daily life let alone something like this operation the workers do NOT obviously know what they are handling or how to operate properly, its not their fault as they are only labourers and poorly paid, and also they are the ones to also suffer with their health. Public information in the philippines is...ZERO

  • What a unprofessional, shitbag company. Sue the fuck out of them.

  • This makes my blood run cold! in all my years of asbestos removal i have never seen such stupidity and disregard for other's lives. I really cant believe what i'v just seen... speechless... as for the previous comment - wake up to yourself ! - isnt it obvious enough what's happening here? THIS IS MURDER!!!

  • what a dump...what happened there?

  • yes canada does still export chrysotile but mostly to china where it is primarily used in industrial and residential construction!

  • canada still exports asbestos to other countries to be mixed into tiles etc.

so i guess there aren't many laws about it in other places

  • Part B:

Would you imagine the ill effect that our citizen will have, at least getting a cancer and worst is the tearing-off the human flesh, lungs, liver and internal organs when it get in touch and inhaling this at the area.

Why the latter's group became untouchable and never been punished... Because this group can bribe anyone, especially if your opposing them.

  • Part A:

It is not important how they clean and dispose the scattered PCB oil, it is still there at site and they cannot be brought out this to another place. The pollutants are proliferating in the area. They should be punished by keeping it secret of the explosion.

(Pls. see Part B for the continuation)

  • Part I:

This Asbestos incident is only just a small concern from the dismantling of MTPP. But the worse scenario that this group had tookpart was they let the transformer containing PCB exploded as accident at the site, Approx. 1,400 liters of PCB transformer oil accidentally explode to the environment when it was hit by falling metal from above. They did not cautiously handled this matter.

(Pls. see Part II for the continuation)

  • Part II:

The contamination goes beyond re-claiming it, that up to the catch basin and drain canal to Pasig River was evidently tainted. As per previous laboratory test the contamination is about 850,000 PPM fluid that burst-out on the atmosphere and surroundings. This happened August 12, 2009.

May be if we considered this seriously this accident will be the first accident of PCB unsafe handling in the Phlippines and in the whole world...

(Pls. see Part III for the continuation)
