Qutab MInar

Tower expanded upon by the first muslim invaders in India.For many years it was the tallest structure in the world. Origininally built on a rajput site. You can still see remains of carvings of Ganesha. There is a iron pillar next to the minar and that is something like the first iron pilar in the world,....erected by Hindus. It has never rusted after thousands of years.It is one of the oldest things in india. The minar was used as a sun dial and for astronomy. the longest shadow of the minar is on dec 21.,the winter solstice. there is also remains of a madrassa school. touring the inside of the minar tower was halted a a few decades ago when some children were killed falling on the stairs.
The complex had served as a goverment and city center for thousands of years through seveal different dynasties each putting their own mark on to try and out do the previous.
