Pork Protest

On February 7, 2007 members of Mercy For Animals held a silent vigil outside the annual Ohio Pork Congress in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

MFA members displayed signs and distributed literature describing how on factory farms mother pigs are treated like breeding machines, enduring a constant cycle of artificial insemination until they "wear out" and are shipped to slaughter.

After seeing this, why would someone want to eat a pig? To sit down with pig meat on your plate, and remembering this video. To know all they had to go through for you to go to the store or out to a restaurant and it takes no effort for you. It's such a horrible thing. I believe in the circle of life, but this is just cruel and there are other ways. So so sad.

Why? is what I would like to know. Why do you have to mutilate them? beat them? torture them, it's all completely unecessary! And if you're going to slit their throats, why don't they cut the vein where less pain is felt and they die quickly without having to suffer?!

I'm no vegetarian, and I don't really like pigs, I have a slight fear of them. But it doesn't take one to see that this is unacceptable!
