What kind of pay does our military retire with? We must Support Our Troops!

No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay. While Politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense.


Monday on Fox news they learned that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This will get national attention if other news networks will broadcast it. When you add this to the below, just where will all of it stop?

Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

Now there is the QSP program in the Army. Instead of letting soldiers reenlist or get promoted, they close reenlistment windows and cut back promotions so that soldiers are forced out without benefits. It's way past time to end all Congressional pensions, privileged medical and dental care, and all the other elite perks our elected officials have voted in for themselves. Screw every last one of our politicians, including Obama.

This is amazing. My husband that served 15 1/2 yrs was let go (due to cut down) with no retirement, no benifits. This is how they "stand by their military men and women" with their backs to us that is. I wonder how these congress men and women and the senators would feel if they were let go after that many yrs with just a thank you. There is something wrong here.

If that is the case, then they need to pay them corporate pay. Even the Commandant, the top officer in the Marine Corp get paid about $200,000-something verses the MILLIONS CEOs make in corporate world. We won't even get into the Sgt and SSgt pay versus what they do. Military having money is a MYTH. My husband is a Marine, and I have to manage our household money. Believe me, I KNOW! Cutting out retirement benefits? Are you serious? Now someone tell me how is THAT fair?

@centurion180ad Yes and now they are actually contemplating retroactively taking the military retirement away from those who have been earning it for the last decade in this war. They have a scheme to put all our retirement into 401Ks, hand it over to Wall Street and when we turn 60, we get what they haven't squandered. Sorry but that's not the deal they made with us when we signed up and marched off voluntarily to war for tour after tour.

Categorization, training & equipping of military people is all screwed up, but total numbers if anything are too low for the tempo that has been set.

Less than 20% of inductees ever make it to 20 years for any sort of annuity.
