Diverkev talks about what it was like growing up in his home town, and what it was like in 2004 after being away for 12 years. He also tries to make this an example of his twisted humour,

  • I remember back in the 80's me and my mom would walk through town and stop in Woolworth's, the Alland's Toys, (but could never afford any), but I could stop by the Army-Navy store and browse all the cool military stuff. Then our next stop was at the Hot Dog Shop for a hot dog and french fries with gravy, LOL. Everyone in Indiana thinks I am nuts until they try it.....

  • Thanks for the comment. I'm going to be posting some new video's about my latest visit to Butler last September. Thanks to all who have watched and commented:)

  • don't forget Bill's Bargain Store, Cummings Candy Shop- before it became a coffee shop - you could get a 10 cent cone. And Woolworth's had a snack counter where you could pop a balloon and win a banana split. Butler was a great place to grow - Ritz Park was our playground, Main Street our cruising strip, and St. Paul's School - the place I learned everything important and survived to tell about it. I still love to come visit my folks and relive my childhood.

  • I was wondering if they still had nuns at St. Paul's School. The ones that taught me looked like the could die at any time, or did they send them to Iraq to fight?

  • I went to school there in the 70's and you're right - they were sooo old and scary!! My favorite one was Sr. Norbert - she used to sub when the other nuns were sick - she called all the girls "Susie" and yelled at us in Latin. Sr. Selahsha (sic) in 4th grade used to call us "big boob" if we gave an incorrect answer. Sr. Carla, music, let me sit in the back, cause I sang loud (not good). After all this, I went on to become a teacher - today's kids don't know how lucky they are the nuns are dead!

  • I remember Sr. Avala. Sr. (The Nun from hell)

Virginia, Mrs. Lafferty, Mrs,Burmer. They had a real nice area with a shelter house and grill for picnics where the botom parking lot is now.

  • 2:30 . Oh. My. God.

after noticing how drurry everything had turned, and how main street was deserted in the middle of the day, and that beautiful open fihld, and that church off to the right, he returned to woolworths, to find the parrot was still there, and still said "shit." When that happened, it pretty much made his week.

    how retarded is this video?

    wicked retarded.

  • I miss the hot dog shoppe):

  • I think the democrats came around in the early 80s and passout out social security applications to all the young men. Any idea on the statistics? Most families are now supported by women and the rate of pay is a disgrace.

  • I have lived in and out of Butler. Moved to Alaska for 8 year, Then moved back to PA and lived back in Butler since it was a reasonably cheap place to live and I enjoyed it when i lived there before. That lasted a whole 2 months and i was ready to move out of that shit hole that the town has become. The town is like a black hole out in space. It truly seems like all the scum of PA are pulled into this town and get comfy on the cheap living and welfare.

  • the dramatic music is hilarious. your talking about the 70's get with the program. how can you compare its 2010. society as a whole has changed not just the town. no shit you would rather live in Hawaii who wouldn't?

  • I lived in Butler for a year... lived in the county all my life, still live down the road from Butler. People there don't have any teeth. They buy beer before diapers... buy heroin before dental work... I see more drunks before 10AM in Butler than anywhere I've ever been. It's a welfare hellhole and a democrat vote paradise. Everybody's on government assistance.

  • damn i miss the fuckin hot dog shop.

  • well.... i think there trying to compare it to the past. as in butler has more drugs then it did 40 years ago. but i do have to agree with you, i honestly dont know a town without drugs. however 40 years ago towns would have had a lower amount of drugs then now. also now reading papers and other information, there trying to say that the drug took a big incline from new castle issues. of course this is just the press. and let me tell you something the butler eagle isnt the most accurate.

  • Visited a lot in my teen years & lived there twice, once for a year and once for seven.

Even now Butler is not a bad place. Anyone who bitches about it must have never been to New Castle. There are drugs there, there are drugs everywhere. If you find a place w/o drugs...please let me know!!

It may not be the most exciting place, but one could actually live out a pretty happy existence in Butler. 99% of the people I knew there were great people. And if nothing else, it's not New Castle!!!

  • you can put it this way everyone. butler is not what is used to be. i am only 13 but my parents tell me stories about butler. i wish i had lived there back then. but unforuanatly in the 90's. butler took a turn for the worse. i dont live in the actual town part of butler but i live in center township near the clearview mall. and i can tell you that center township is a nice place. the mall is great i mean it is very good. the landscape is beautiful. butler is nothing like center township.
