Liberal author and radio host Thom Hartmann argues that the authors of the U.S. Constitution envisioned a more egalitarian society than has traditionally been believed.
-----
Thom Hartmann talks about "Screwed: The Undeclared War Against the Middle Class and What We Can Do About It."
Hartmann argues that the middle class is not the natural consequence of a free-market-based economy, but rather, the intended result of policies put into place to maximize the public good. He also argues the middle class is on its deathbed, evident by the number of people who put in a solid day's work and can no longer afford to buy a house, send their kids to college, or even get sick. Hartmann is also the author of "The Prophet's Way."
Thom Hartmann, who started in radio in 1968, is also an internationally known speaker on culture and communications, an author, and an innovator in the fields of psychiatry, ecology, and democracy. Hartmann is the award-winning, best-selling author of fourteen books currently in print in over a dozen languages on four continents.
@jimmydee3993 You can easily confirm EVERYTHING I claimed online! Obama did attack Libya without provocation & his healthcare bill dictates all americans must by Insurance from corporate HMO's!
According to MULTIPLE sources Chavez has shut down radio & TV stations that are in opposition of his policies & views. I suppose if you CANT DEFEND your claims with credible supportable references it would be better to end the conversation as you wasted our time with fantasy.

@joe035 When I said Chavez' critics are liars, I meant his Venezuelan critics in the media. They know the real truth but deliberately distort and manipulate. As for his American critics, it could just be a question of misinformation due to the media bias in this country. But after your last statement about Obama, I don't see any further need to converse with you, you have either been duped by the right-wingers or you may be purposely twisting the facts. In either case, let's end the conversation

@jimmydee3993 I just refernced you irrefutable facts of how he shut down TV & Radio broadcasts with views that oppose his own & you say I'm a liar. FYI Obama wants to force Americans to buy HC Insurance from his hmo corporate friends pay a fine or go to jail. He also attacked Liby without porovocation or Congressional approval which was an ILLEGAL & Tyranical act! You already bought the bridge dude, I'm just trying to keep you from buying another!

@joe035 The critics of Chavez are the ones who are liars. You believe that b.s. because you want to. The same kind of people say that Obama is a ruthless dictator, and compare him to Hitler. I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you in case you're interested.

@jimmydee3993 I'm 72 years old and would love to live in Venezuela to see the things that are being accomplished, but of course I would be a burden on Venezuelan society. We could use a president like Chavez here.

@jimmydee3993 Their license is allowed to expire or revoked when they call for the assassination of the president.

@joe035 Peter Eisner must be a right-winger. Of course he would criticize
Chavez just like the Venezuelan oligarchy does. There has been no crackdown on free speech. One characteristic of the private media in Venezuela is that they distort, manipulate, lie, and slander to poison the minds of the public. They're still doing it today. If it weren't for agencia bolivariana de noticias or aporrea.org nobody would know the truth. No one goes to prison.

@joe035 Right here in the United States license renewal to broadcast over the air waves is rejected or revoked for violating the law. There are many private radio stations operating in Venezuela. There is a morality code that adult content can't be broadcast until late at night when children are sleeping. There is also a rating system according to the suitablilty for content for certain age groups. If they violate the code, they can be fined or shut down for repeat violations.
