The old cure stuff was labeled darkwave, as opposed to the lighter new wave of the 80's they pioneered the genre which later became gothic rock or gothic music, so calling The Cure Goth is quite accurate. All of this lies within the realm of "Alternative" music, a kind of hazy and generic term if you ask me!

I've been listening to the cure since most of you were still crappin in your pampers, back then there was no such thing as goth. its alternative music for cryin out loud. not emo, not goth...its ALTERNATIVE! Stop trying to label an epic band with your trendy vocabulary.
