if i'm not mistaken, superboy wanted to distance himself from Superman's look
-
@AceRyonik Yeah I know. Thank you anyway.

@CAPTSCRU33Y His current costume is actually very similar to that one. Thenly differences are the inclusion of the classic S shield, a belt, some added seams to make it look thicker, and the removal of the red patches on his abdomen.

I'd like to see what Tim Gunn could do with some of the costume creators in some of the superhero MMOs that are out. When City of Heroes came out, when I first started up the game, I spent a good 2 hours playing around with the costume creator. After that I really got into designing the costumes for my characters and my main character was always getting compliments for his costume. I always tried to keep them clean and simple and it worked, within the limitations of the creator.

Besides the bracelet masqeurading as a belt on the modern costume design, I love it. No panties on the outside, and black instead of yellow for the symbol both work for me.
-
Your analogy of the good cop/bad cop dynamic between Batman & his Robins was perfect.

can anyone tell me what comic the superman at 1:38 is from? the red and white one.

These 2 guys together talking about super heroes is GOLDEN!
-
That was a fun series. I'd love to see you and Tim do more....there are a LOT of great and horrible super-hero costumes out there. I think you guys would have a field day with some of the Golden Age characters !!

This is great. Love how in depth you guys get. Thanks for putting this up.
i was really impressed with Gunn's disquisition on why the x-men should have a uniform and why it's ok that the jla and avengers don't. it showed his presence there was not merely one of "and here we import some extra fashion expertise via a famous face from tv". really excellent stuff

@ceeeph That was actually ME who said all that about the JLA, X-Men and Avengers and my philosophy on who should and shouldn't wear a uniform. Tim did nod many times as I said that though and was in full agreement, as he is familiar with the three teams. And I like to think that all his other comments are proof that I didn't interview him here just because he's famous. :-) Thanks for watching, spread it around.

In 4:06, the guy on the left isn't Cyclops; that's Iceman. But then the style they were going for that time was darn confusing.

@ianpatph I'm not sure what you're trying to correct. No one said the guy on the left was Cyclops nor did anyone think it could be. We're aware its Iceman because we're looking at him and we took it from a scan of Iceman #3 from the 2002 Icons mini-series. We were trying to show different X-Men in different costume styles. Iceman in a simple jacket, Cyclops in a customized jumpsuit, Wolverine in an actual costume.

@CrazySexyGeeksSeries Hookay, it was just a surprise they were talking bout Cyclops at that moment and then there was Iceman. (I gathered Wolvie was included only coz it was hard to remove him from the same cover.) But now I can see maybe it was for transition from just Cyclops to the rest of the group.

@ianpatph We weren't talking about Cyclops. We were talking about how the X-Men should dress and so we were showing different styles of X-Men uniform. At one point we referred to a belief held by Cyclops that cemented our view of how the X-Men should dress, but the conversation never turns to focus on him nor are any of his particular looks and outfits discussed between us.
