  • Sorry, wrong comment spot. Look down.

  • Unlike what you apparently think, small businesses will not sacrifice much of anything with higher minimum wage. They claim they'll hire less workers, when in actuality any SMART business will make careful cuts elsewhere so that its still economical. Btw, if a business can't pay the fair price for work, then they aren't that good of a business and SHOULD go out of business. Thats how business works.

  • Sure, small business need people to grow, but there isn't much headroom to hire additional employees if wages go up.

    10,000 man-hours per month at $5.15 = 8803.5 man-hours $5.85. That's a 1197 man-hour shortfall, and it translates into one or two people not working because it's not in the company's budget.

Sit and think about it, dumbass. I'm not talking about the WalMarts who can afford the wage increase. I'm talking about the Mom & Pop shops who are barely getting by.

  • It doesn't mean fewer jobs, artard. Businesses will need just as many people. More jobs are created every year, and other countries with higher minimum/living wages don't suffer from 'fewer' jobs at all.

  • Smooth move, USA. The IGNORANT minimum-wage earners think they've won, when in reality, this decision just means FEWER JOBS.

Small Businesses (which ironically provides the most jobs) are hurt the most by this: they can't afford to hire people to grow their businesses to compete with Big Corporations like WalMart. Small Businesses die off, and the few jobs they did provide go along with 'em. Across the USA.

  • $5.25 / hrs = slave last 1860's black people southern

  • A compleet swindle!!

The promised rise they get in 2008 and 2009 will be worth nothing because at that time life will be more expansive and with that raise they will earn the same as today or maybe less than today if the prices go more up.

It would only make a differences if these raises are adjusted with the inflation.

  • Way to spell, DRGQ.

  • About time too.

    Still modest and not enough.

Lags far behind other countris still.
