  • huge jolt in california right now. near L.A. area.

if any of you people live in california or earthquake areas you need to pay attention to this guy.

(they say it was 4.7 but i've been in 6.5's and that quick jolt was up there)

  • Looks like it was initially recorded as a 5.0 by the automatic sensors, the new magnitude scale is not the Richter scale. The new "Magnitude" scale accounts for various factors besides the strongest vibrations.

I'm getting a better idea of how these things are happening. And unfortunately it looks like CA is still due for a large quake from this last hole.

  • thanks for being honest. i'm going to tell as many people i can about your channel, and stock up on water at the same time.

thanks for the info. i didn't know they no longer use the richter scale. i'll have to look up the magnitude scale.

  • To be honest, right now I have no way of knowing how long before or how big the next one. It could be a month, could be a year, but I'd be surprised if it's more than a year before another 5+. There may be more clues in future suns, time will tell.

  • Very interesting John. I was watching something on the history channel about a possible earthquake that has in the past and yet has a chance of causing a tsunami effect on California Again. Would you say this prediction is possible?and if you could infact predict this quake that is the effector how could you convince the people to save their lives?

  • It's only a matter of time, Adam. We know these events are a part of the natural cycles. The better we understand how those cycles move, the better we'll get at knowing when. Surviving a serious quake is mostly a matter of making sure nothing falls on you- it wouldn't require evacuations like Hurricanes. A lot of california is not at risk for Tsunami's because of elevation, but other parts would be at risk from a large undersea shift. No idea how to go about predicting those yet.

  • Ok, will do, wasn't sure if it was just me, but was assuming it was.

My pc has been acting up lately.

  • Works fine in all my browsers. It's a direct link to a PDF file so I'd recommend you reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • John thanks for this update, your fist link seems to crash every browser for me...
