the reason why it is still illegal is because people are still convinced that the lies told in the smear campaign, like that smoking it leads to taking other drugs and that it is the devils weed and smoke of hell. And "health" teachers tell kids in school lies like that it can cause testicular cancer. Which is as accurate as saying I sleep in a fold out bed and I got cancer so they must be related.

@Ryoketsu actually the main reason is a smear campaign that was run by the major rope manufacturers in the 1930's (it was a big industry back then because of the massive increases in navy sizes during ww1 and 2) and it was about the type of plant it is (hemp) because hemp can be used to make cheaper and stronger rope but the manufacturers weren't able to use their machinery to produce it and retro fitting their factories cost more then they were willing to invest

@SaxMan1OOO Actually, it's because the Alcohol Industries lobby shit loads of money to keep it illegal, because a significantly lower amount of the population would kill themselves with stupid ass liquor if a healthy, non dangerous alternative were to be made legal.

Why is Marijuana illegal? It doesn't kill people like tobacco, alcohol or prescription pills do on a daily basis and if its eaten instead of smoked than its not even harmful to your body.
