Here is my new 6 cup "Flip Cup" hho fuel cell. (It doesn't look like much around the cell, because the gas is being ported through the top of the cell to the surface of the water)

I redesigned my 7 cup cell, by removing 1 cup and arranging the cups as follows: +nnn-n

The reason I have the neutral cup on top, is because it was the only way I could get the connectors to stay on the negative cup. I guess I could have welded the connectors on... if I knew how to weld.

I am using half a teaspoon of potassium hydroxide as electrolyte, and am pleased with the output that I'm getting from this new design, but I'm not sold on this configuration yet.

  • Baking soda will work when you first try out!

  • @medicbr549 I wouldn't recommend baking soda, because it builds up on the plates, causing it to produce less gas over time.

  • what are neutral plates for?

  • yes

  • The reason for the middle hole and the upside down design, is to chamber the gas from one stack to another.

This is done to build gas inside the cell and then focus it into a single high output stream.

Having the cell upright would not allow a controlled exhaust, and most of the gas would never make it to the surface, because it would be absorbed back into the water.

  • true, but as long as you have a water tight seal around the wires, you will not have to worry about them corroding, because they will not be part of the electrolytic reaction.

  • If its 302 stainless wire (effected by a magnet) dont bother it will corrode quickly.

If you've got the cash i've always wanted to try NORYL plastic...Bob Boyce and GE have made cells with it...

  • Its Oxygen/Hydrogen fumes...which also get HOT.... thats what melted my bubbler...I think I might have to build a Flash Back instead. Another good idea, really like where you are going with you cells. Great job.
