Just a quick video showing Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) running on an HP TC4400. Everything but the WACOM quick launch buttons working so far.

Also shows some of the steps I had to do to get a few extra things working as intended.

Main packages shown in this video:
Chromium
Gimp
VLC Media Player
Cairo Dock
Magick-Rotation
Fingerprint GUI
GTK-RecordMyDesktop

.OGV video converted using FFMPEG in terminal "ffmpeg -i inputfile.ogv outputfile.avi" It's a quick and dirty way to do it, there are command line options to have the video come out looking better, but I really wasn't too concerned with that. I believe there's a GUI (FFWin) that will let you stay out of terminal to convert the files with a few more options.

  • @Shuey187 IIRC I just updated the system and the internal mic was working (when not rotated).

I can't go back and look at my settings because I've moved to LinuxMint because I didn't like the idea of being forced into Unity with Ubuntu11.

  • I couldn't get the built-in mic working. Do you have any tips for this?

  • @johnbmcc6063 Best I can think of is the standard work around for BIOS passwords... it's not fun, but it should work. Take the laptop apart enough to get to the CMOS battery, remove it, remove the main battery, and keep the laptop unplugged. That SHOULD reset the BIOS to defaults and clear the password.

If you can boot into Windows on the machine, you can try a program called "CmosPwd" by CGSecurity and see if that will show you the password that's being used.

  • I am trying to install Ubuntu on my HP Compaq TC4400 Tablet but I cannot access the BIOS setup becuase it was psswrd protected. Did you happen to run into the same problem, and if so, How did you get passed it?
