The Sweatbox is a vibrant social hub for the majority of young people in Wantage. As a result of funding cuts they centre is due to close in June.
Musikscool worked with them to raise finds and create publicity in an effort to help the centre to stay open.
In one day the 25 teenagers created a 6 track music CD of outstanding quality, got themselves 4 interviews on BBC Radio Oxford, a feature on the local evening TV news on BBC1, plus press interviews. They also raised £1,375 in the day, with plenty more to come. Local MP Ed Vaizey, Minister for Arts and Culture, also popped in for an hour to see this amazing achievement for himself.
Musikscool are keen to run more events like this for organisations threatened with closure, so get in touch via Musikscool.com if you are interested.
Also visit Musikscool.com to find out how you can get the CD (you can hear one of the tracks on this video) and do please support in any way you can. Thank You!

But although being a part of a Government that starves the local authority of funds blames others for the decision to cut essential provision for young people. I would have thought he'd hang his head in shame.
