Manhattan's new greenway park is made for walking. The High Line opened in 2009 and is currently half a mile long. The park is studded with permanent and transient works of art. The High Line enabled a transformation of the neighborhood around itself.
Very accurate presentation of a great urban resource. I lived a few blocks away, owned a business on Gansevort Street and as a child remember how strange it was to see actual rail cars traveling overhead.
A perfect place to escape the trendoids that visit and live in the MEATPACKING DISTRICT, wasn't too long ago that the entire area smelled like meat and blood and hundreds of men in white coats off loading sides of beef, sheep and pigs from refrigerated trailers. Great work Stan!
