does he mean slavery in the purely spiritual sense? well then that is true but applies to the whole world. However america's shackles are also literal and political: the patriot act, TSA and its indecent assaults at airports, its suspension of habeas corpus, its use of torture, its general lawlessness.

If the preacher ignores the political slavery  he is as blind and enslaved as those he speaks to and about

I agree alot of people are slaves to something or another, they might have an addiction or an obsession, but using your reasoning abilities and thinking logically doesn't make you a slave. I don't believe in the bible because it's historically, scientifically and logically ridiculous. That doesn't make me a slave, that means I am free from being a slave to something that is completely untrue.

Um, Mark Driscoll is not talking about government conspiracies, whether they are true or not. He's talking about sin issues and being enslaved to addictions.
