Hi Fred,
I use a Shure Beta 87A for vocals and banjo. It's a condenser mic and requires phantom power.
Yo Johnnybub,
These arrangements appear on my Pacific Swing Album/CD recorded in 1983. The "head" arrangement was arranged in predominantly Scruggs style. The others solidified after years of improvisation, experimentation, and jamming with a rhythm track. Before I recorded the album I had arrived at these arrangements. I did not improvise in the studio.
