My new tesla coil not quite working properly. I need a corona ring or a toroid to stop top turn arcing. power here is about 850 watts
secondary is 16cm diametre by 45 cm winding hight wound with 24 awg. driver is h-bridge .of irfp460 with CT feedback. I had to keep the run time short because the top of the secondary was quickly burning up.

  • Thanks for the comment. The secondary has a resonant frequency of about 250khz (calculated) with a 3x12" toroid topload, without i wouldnt have a clue...probably about 300 to 350khz. The primary consists of 4 turns of cat-5 network cable around a cardboard tube, the pairs of cable are connected parallel to give 16 turns tapable at 16,12,8, and 4 turns, in this vid it is tapped at turn 8. I am feeding fullwave recified 240v mains to the bridge, so 340v peak.

  • Pretty damn good. What's the primary, and what are you feeding the h-bridge? What's the ring frequency of the secondary?
