Johnson did not get a poor start at all. His reaction was one of (if not the) fastest in the field and his split-times were, until Tyson Gay and Bolt ran faster curves, the fastest ever recorded on a bend. His split-times showed a steady decline over final stages as to be expected in a 200m. He wasn't going to gain any time, trust me.

Poor start? Johnson just did not have the acceleration to be quicker out the blocks. It was that simple. But did he really pull up? Still, this is the best 200 m race ever run

I agree. As insane as Bolt's time is, this race is still the most exciting Olympic event I've ever seen. Had it not been for a poor start and pulling up at the end; Johnson would have gone 19.10. How he was able to hold his form over 200 meters at the pace he was running is one of the greatest triumphs of track and field. Look how he quickly he closes the stagger on Garcia. Boldon and Fredericks were no slouches, and he just blows them away on the straightaway. Amazing!!!

Indeed it was. I heard that after the Olympics, the stadium was given to the Atlanta Braves, and that the track was ripped up as "they did not need it". Is this true? If so, what a shame...
