C'mon man, I'm assuming you live here too. East. St. Louis is about as far away from St. Louis MO as the shortest bridge over the river. They are in effect the same city.

im a former st. louis city resident and im sorry to say, mr. mccrakcn is absolutely right, our beloved city suffers from a horrible school district, mishandled urban development, and some serious lasting racial divides. i hate to disagree with everyone, but st. louis stands to become even worse over the next decade unless something is done.

Sorry bud, you are wrong. Opa Locka Fl is higher, but not in per capita. E. St louis is number 2 in the nation REGARDLESS of population. That is according to 2006 statistics. The only reason that KC has different elected officials is because of different state laws regarding taxation etc. Ask a resident, it is ONE city. I guess you think the criminals from East St Louis don't cross the river?
