Bergen-Hohne Garrison is one of the places in Germany that is facing closure within the next five years under the Strategic Defence and Security Review. The garrison is spread over three stations; Bad Fallingbostel, Celle and Bergen. Each town has hosted and become friends with their British residents since the end of World War Two. Economy in the area is heavily reliant on the military community and local Germans fear for the future, including the town major of Bergen, Rainer Prokop. Colonel Paul Eaton the Deputy Garrison Commander praised the town's support for the forces.
