In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, I turned the wind up to 220 kts, and filmed various aircraft in that situation. The results were unexpected and were interesting. I had a Boeing 747 do a vertical takeoff like a helicopter. The planes in this video are: Boeing 747s, Cessnas, Learjets, Gliders, DC-3s, and even the Wright Brothers Flyer! Enjoy!

  • @BriefmomentOfficial Yes, reality and 220kt wind speed fit perfectly in the same sentence.

  • Co Pilot: Captain, should we shut-down our engines?

Pilot: Well, if theres 220Kias Headwind. Would you go full throttle?

    Co Pilot: Well, uh. No.

    Pilot: Good!

  • In reality, all of these aircraft would crash instantly. But I can tell you where wanting to have some fun. Lol

  • I once did this in a Piper Cub!

  • Co-Pilot: "There's a Hurricane out there!"
