1986 sign on of Channel 17 in Philadelphia. Actually, the station never signed off that morning and began another "broadcast day" with this video after closing out the previous "broadcast day" with a local public service program.
@Julius121081 Wee Willie Webber died today? Oh man, the end of an era in afterschool UHF-supplied fun and happiness. God bless him, and I hope that he finds his way among the stars and that he knows that he was well loved.
Rest In Peace, dear friend, and thanks for all the afterschool memories :-)
Oh man, does this bring back the memories...I used to watch Wee Willie Webber's show afterschool in the early and mid 70's...and it's where I first got to see Japanese live action goodness, in the way of Ultraman, Johnny Sokko, and Space Giants. Of the animated gold they showed, Speed Racer, Marine Boy, and Milton The Monster were some of my favorites. I MISS THESE DAYS!
BTW-you don't have any of the openings to WPHL's "Nightmare Theatre" that showed in the mid 70's, do you?
I remember back in the day when PHL17 use to show a local weather card with the time at the bottom with that music whish I could reproduce it on here lol. They usally did it when they showed Sanford and Son and then the Jeffersons comming back from the commercial break
This was actually a WPHL practice well into the 2000s. I have a fully animated one from 2000 - similar script, but with WB17 and Tribune mentions where "Channel 17" and "Taft Broadcasting Partners Limited Partnership" (wha?) are in this one.

I still love WPHL today but the station was much better when it was a independent in my view.
