ATTN: A "FF10:TZ" VERSION [2] IS ALSO AVAILABLE! PLEASE VIEW/RATE+ IT LOCATED IN MY PROFILE... THANKS!

[Note: There are far better YouTube versions than what I have here (especially in terms of piano tonal quality) So I do suggest you visit the others... However I want to note, I did try my best with the piano I had.]

Extra notes: The initial recording is 3:18 [unless the mp3 I own is !@#$ed up]. But before I go out to blow out the candles my piece ended around (3:40) So if you subtract the (15) seconds in the beginning where I was talking the final time you get is *[3:25]*
[x] 7 seconds overtime
[x] I do agree though I do seem to be playing slower than the original, maybe my tempo is uneven in some parts?

This video, as you have previously heard is dedicated to both my brother and I's #1 Fan: Charles AKA ScrappyCD206 [I forgot to mention the CD part, sorry bud!]. I had to return my thanks because this dude actually decided to make a VIDEO dedicating it to both my brother and I. It doesn't sound that special, but hey I thought it was funny. And even though we aren't the greatest pianist out there... it's nice to find some people who find us worthy to listen too. :-)

Well hmm, one of these days I am gonna get sick of writing these long essays... Well I guess that's good for you isn't it?

So about the video, this is my first Final Fantasy PC from FFX to play... You might be thinking: What the hell is up with the stupid candles? DUDE, you're a fag!

Well first of all, Fuck you. And second of all, I have realized that there were many people who have played this piece already so I wanted to make mine a little bit different. Plus I thought the candles were "aesthetically pleasing." To Zanarkand is supposed to sound beautiful so I thought why not try to make the environment "nice" to look at too?

So now with the piece and the Final Fantasy X game itself... I think because I have heard this piece so many times and played by so many people I have become slightly bored with it, and at times I have seemed to lose the "feeling" this piece is supposed to evoke. Aside from that I had quite a few other issues with this piece. Actually when I first came across this piece, I always thought that it was called: "To ZanarkLAND." Hmm, but when I actually started to play the game I realized I was pronouncing the title WRONG. I had quite a bit of "WTF" moments with this piece. I understand there is no "right" way to "make music"... but when I was listening to the CD and using the Sheet music something was wrong which bothered me. But before long I finally had realized it was the freaking notes! I want to make note that: The Official Final Fantasy X PC Sheet music IS played and notated differently than the Official CD... So when you think you hear other pianists playing it wrong, they are actually RIGHT. It's just that FFX PC CD is played differently than the printing. Well, in the end I did end up fixing these tribulations and geared them towards my own tastes... especially during the large A-Chord Progressions.

I would like to point that "To Zanarkand" appears to be quite easy compared to the other FF pieces, but now that I have played it, it clearly is not. Aside from the Climax which needs the most mastery of the hands, this piece takes dire emotional expression and touch. Due to my piano's quality I tried to play this as best as I could have. I concentrated mainly on "touch" which I found most important for this piece.

And about the game... I have only played through FF8 and FF9. X just didn't seem to have grown on me as it should... Great Graphics and sound... Well what ruined it for me was the introduction... I was so used to seeing Full Motion Videos for every introduction of every FF game I played that when I saw the introduction with X and the Zanarkand theme playing, I was baffled why the designers decided to start the game (with Tidus and the gang) in polygon form... It was choppy! Well I guess the designers wanted to show how good the graphics were for the PS2 that just came out back then, but sadly that really ruined it for me. Recently I just started to brief FFXII (I now own the collector's edition; It's fucking sweet!)... But I find myself more attracted to that than X. But hopefully FFXXX will grow on me.

  • hey! its been a while, but.

what changes did you make to the climax part? to make it sound like the CD version

  • @TlMpossible Hi, you actually go up another octave with the rolling 16th notes. In the sheet music written, the notes are actually cut off short.

  • @CheonHoPark how does the timing work then? for the right hand

  • @TlMpossible The time is in 3/4 time so you count the notes with for every beat three times per measure. Wherever the notes line up with the right and left that is when you should play the right hand notes.

  • hey, you're right about the climax part

when i learnt this song i wondered why it doesnt sound similar to the piano collections one LOL

thanks for pointing it out :)

  • @TlMpossible Hi thanks, yes, they are different. This one is more complicated, but I think the OST version has more prettier sound/arrangement. But I played this one since it was for higher level.
