Matt Wesley walking in Lokomat at NextSteps Chicago. The Lokomat is a robotic walking machine which allows Wesley to simulate natural walking patterns. The Lokomat has sensors built in, which gives Wesley feedback and tell him whether he is working with or against the machine. This information is displayed on the monitor. Therapists or trainers are able to manipulate, through the computer settings, various settings on the Lokomat. A typical session is usually 45 minutes in duration and Wesley can walk approximately 11/2 miles during this time. The Lokomat is a great tool for people with spinal cord injuries.
