Part 1 of a video shot on a long weekend in Jan 2009. Friday afternoon there was brilliant sunshine, 16C and gorgeous 3m waves that came in rhythmic smooth intervals forming perfect rolling waves. No surfer was out; too touch. On Saturday the waves were down to 2m making it ideal for surfers who had their feast. On Sunday it started to rain and the waves were 5m, taller than on Friday but more chaotic, more wild but less shapely, power without control. We enjoyed the sunset from the Atxoulo cliffs. On Monday the waves continued under rain and brief moments of sunshine at 3-4m. One wave washed over the whole beach, crossed the road and poured down into the river that mouths into the ocean. San Juan de Gaztegulatxe is visible on nearly all shots.
