Take a tour through the Hacienda Salitre, where Latin America's liberator Simón Bolívar stayed from August 3 to 4, 1819; now an exquisite hotel! It is here Bolívar planned the Battle of Boyacá, the last major battle ultimately granting New Granada (present-day Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama) independence against Spain. The general also used the grounds as a hospital to recuperate his troops. RCN's Gary Parkosewich guides you through this rich place full of history!
