  • He certainly has a piano, and although he's by know means a virtuoso performer on it, he has frequently brought up in interviews that he knew many popular songs, and could play them from memory.

That said, organman is a fucking douche.

  • nice. My favourite living American composer.

  • @japanesesweet not anymore.

  • I recently attended a concert at a major university where the compositions of a "young, modern composer" billed as a "genius" and "up and coming" was performed. After the second piece ended, the audience booed and hissed. There were many who demanded their money back. The music sounded similar to this Babbit rubbish. The orchestra was backed up by a pipe organ. Thirty minutes into the concert the musicians seemed embarrassed and the pipe organ player was looking for a hole to crawl into.

  • Bizarre! But in a good way ...

  • Bizarre!

  • Are they warming up?

  • nice

  • A refreshing change, what with all that dissonance, from other fanfares.

  • Interesting title considering the bogus quote "Who Cares If You Listen," which Babbitt never said, of course.
