The Porsche 917... Overpowered, Twitchy Handling, and Unsafe. This is truly a real driver's car.

I was at the wheel when this was filmed. The cup holder in these cars doesn't fit a super big gulp very well and I was steering with my knee trying to shift left handed while holding my beverage. That may explain the missed apex.

It was like autocrossing a station wagon. I was the one driving it. I had a passenger and just ran out of elbow room, when it started to step out I just could not move quick enough without breaking her ribs.

Actually it's based on 1.5 of the 908 8 cylinder engines, not one single part or design is 911 based.

What a beautiful sound! Saw them race at Laguna Seca (can-am) in the early 70's.
