oh wow. lovely. (the cassie ainsworth collective)

PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE WATCHING (AND WATCH IN 720p)

OK so the idea behind this is the concept of fanmixes. People put together albums or EPs based around a character/pairing/fandom. That's pretty much what I did here. I picked out seven songs that I felt covered Cassie's storyline over her two years on this show. I thought it was something a little different and not like anybody's ever really done before and I hope you enjoy it because I'd love to try it out with a character or pairing that's had a much longer run on television. This was fairly easy as Gen 1 of Skins only ran for two short seasons, and Cassie wasn't even in every episode. I would imagine trying this for a character with much more airtime over a long period of time would be much more of a challenge!

I picked this song for early season one Cassie pretty much because it's spot-on for her. A girl with an eating disorder that lies to everyone around her about being fine? Yeah that's Cassie to a T.

"Oh-kay."

I picked this song for early season one Cassie/Sid again cos I feel it suits them to a T (from Cassie's POV) but in an ironic way. It's all about how Cassie is willing to give herself over fully to Sid, this boy she's fallen for hard, but he's pretty much oblivious.

Worn Me Down - Rachael Yamagata
"You fancy me."
"I...sure."
"But you really fancy Michelle."

"I didn't eat for three days so I could be lovely."

So I picked this song because it's exactly what happened when it came to this triangle, Cassie did everything she could to show Sid she loved him and time and again he just broke her. This really covers the triangle for both seasons.

"Have you ever been in love? Do you want me to describe it to you? Do you remember when you rode with me in the ambulence, after I tried to kill myself?"
"Of course."
"That's what love feels like."

"What are you doing to yourself?"
"Throwing myself to the wind."

So this song feels very season two Cassie - after she's come back from Scotland to find Sid with Michelle, all she does is hurt herself and the people around her. She becomes a bit of a monster.

"I'll love you forever Sid."
"You will?"
"Yes. That's the problem."

This song is like, perfect for these two, I swear. I've actually vidded them before to it, but I couldn't help using it for this. No matter how fucked up things get, all Cassie wants is to be with Sid. She loves him fully, completely.

"It's alright Chris. I'm fine."
"Alright, watch it! Or I'll....what'll I do?"
"Bite his head off and spit in the hole."
"Yeah!"

Cassie/Chris! We didn't see a whole lot of this friendship but you could see in "Cassie" how close they grew. They were not unlike brother/sister and they were my favourite Gen 1 friendship. Between Chris's illness and Cassie "throwing herself to the wind", they both had alot of trying to look out for one another which is why I think this song is perfect for them.

And finally, the end of Cassie's story. Her running after New York after Chris's death. She was completely numb to the world; hell, she slept for two days once she found a bed to sleep on! And then slowly, she comes back to awareness once the impact of everything that's happened to her hits her.


And that's it! This is the life of Cassie Ainsworth completely documented. :D I really hope you enjoyed this, it was alot of trial and error but it was really fun and it's definitely something I'm going to persue again.
