This is my small contribution to the much larger discussion on Connectivism and Connective Knowledge for the CCK08 course.
http://ltc.umanitoba.ca/connectivism/ This is one of many pieces of the connectivism puzzle. For a more thorough description of the other pieces, please visit http://halfanhour.blogspot.com/2008/09/types-of-knowledge-and-connective.html

  • I guess the other piece here, implied by the metaphor, connectivism is not simply extending beyond the local', but also, the connected individual learns to solve problems and view networks differently. Those that are connected (I try to avoid the term connectivists as it can imply other things) can pragmatically extend their neural networks beyond the confines of their own cognitive space.

  • That's exactly what I was thinking! So glad someone out there can read my mind. ;)
