Hyperacoustic (acoustic with hyperinstrument) hydraulophone

Acoustic hydraulophone fitted with hyperacoustic (hyperinstrument) option to add a variety of instrumental sounds to the natural acoustic sounds made by water (separate fipple-like mechanism for each finger hole so this flute can play chords). (Note that the extra instrumentation does not come with the basic acoustic hydraulophone stock-model.)

Is that actually producing any of its own sound acoustically, or is it all electronic? I don't see any controls on it, how do you control the sounds produced?

The acoustic instrument has no controls, but it can be picked (underwater hydrophone pickup) and sent through a computer system to do extra instruments. It's up to the computer programmer to add the extra instruments which can be played out of computer speakers nearby. If you're in San Diego, drop by our exhibit at SIGGRAPH where we've got a hyperacoustic instrument setup there with computer speakers.
