On Monday, August 12, 1991, about 20-members of Quick Response & PISD [People with Immune System Disorders], both affinity groups of QUEER NATION HOUSTON, protested MD Anderson Hospital for discrimination against HIV positive healthcare workers. The protest was a response to the case of operating room technician Brian Bradley, who was placed on administrative leave after he revealed in a July 20 newspaper article that he was HIV positive. After removing him from his job in surgery, hospital administrators told him he could remain employed as an orderly, a stock clerk or telephone operator, removing Bradley from the areas of work for which he was qualified.
