i used to know a little square
so long ago, when i was small
all summer long it had a fair
wonderful fair with swings and all
i used to love my little fair
and at the close of every day
i could be found, dancing around
a merry-go that used to play

ah, mon amour
a toi toujours
dans tes grands yeux
rien que nous deux

all summer long my little fair
made everyday like a holiday
night after night it used to play
and people came there from so far away
and everyone sang that little tune
all around town you heard it played
even pepi from napoli
he sang to marie
this serenade

ah, mon amour
a toi toujours
dans tes grands yeux
rien que nous deux

  • He was the only man on earth able to cover songs like "Corpus Christi Carol" ( by Benjamin Britten ) or Nina Simone or Piaf just right here just as amazing as the original track. He was a wonderful man, I'm a huge fan of him really, I know his story, I listened everything, all of his songs "Sketches for my sweetheart the drunk" too, but I've never listened to this cover and I can say now : he's the greatest artist of all time, he's ALWAYS the best

  • @ArcticBuckley As far as I know he wrote this in Paris, at the Olympia shows, he was so amazed that everyone knew his lyrics, that he picked a french song and a poem of his own and mix them, "I don't know how it ends" is the name of the song, life is strange and we know how it ended,

    Thank you for your words!

    JJ

  • My mom loved Edith Piaf, so I've listened to her music since I can remember. It is rare for me to find someone who even knows who she is, much less to do this. Bravo Jeff Buckley. I agree with eldiran2's post above. My God, I would loved to have met, and been able to talk with Jeff Buckley. There are not many guys who understand my very diverse tastes in music. Somehow comforting to know that about him. I don't`feel`so`"weird"`anymore.`;)

  • @EmmaIsabelBB thank you for your words.

  • Sammy, i love you so much : )

  • Hey man, I was stoked to see you put this one up. I had the hardest time finding a decent quality of this song on youtube, and then saw yours. And the video works really well with the song, I really like it. Thanks. :D

  • @connnielovely it from 'Live at Sin-e'

  • Quel talent!

  • Je t'aime mon cheri Jeff, Je t'aime. Tu me manques, toujours. Je t'aime Edith Piaf aussi.

  • my personal favourite of mr buckley, i struggle with losing him, i only wonder what magnificence he would be treating us with if he were still with us, x

  • @EmmaIsabelBB there's a lot of wonderful young French musicians out there who love and make covers of Piaf and old French school masters. Sharks, BTW, I just recently discovered Guy Marchand (Nestor Burma), he rocks when he sings )

  • @gilbertoguastalla you are very right, he was very good at 'picking the spirit' of so many things. Such a unique and precious talent and person.

  • Can someone tell me what the french part he sings means? Thank you

  • @jay33jay Yes but he dont really wrote it, cause this is from a French artist that every French guy know : Edith Piaf. This is so amazing that he did a version like that ! thanks !
