  • I love your videos on venom collection - so informative! I was wondering how Jim is doing now. Over 15 yrs ago, I had a deep puncture wound in the hand, and got gram - sepsis. In and out of the hospital for about a year, so I know some of what he's gone through!

  • @TheArkyrebel Yikes, that doesn't sound like a good time at all! Jim is doing better, though the wrist is still stiff and somewhat painful, he is back to work. Thanks for the comment.

  • the only thing that I like about snakes in my country is that they flee as soon as they notice you. Is there any species that would actually approach you to bite you?

  • @BohemianJan No, all snakes will run away if they have the chance.

  • Jim We watch all of KY vids (my 6yr old daughter Michelle and I). She says she hopes you feel better soon and says she will pray for you. I will pray you too and I will be looking for updates. This is a real eye opener for a hot keeper who has never been bitten. God bless you Jim. I am glad that you will be okay.

This should be posted on VR

  • @Sithisnight Tell your daughter we said thanks for the good thoughts!

  • Jim i was hopeing to be a herpetologist when im 21 i was thinking to work with you in kentucky to milk different snakes. I have over 20 books of snakes so i know all of them. Even though i could die im still willing to risk my life to help others i know i have a long way to go since im 13 but still i whant to work with you to help other people.

  • I hope you're doing better, Jim. I have the utmost admiration and respect for the work you guys do; it's completely amazing what you do and how you do it. Very glad to see the good progress in this second video. All the best!!!!!!

  • ouch!

Please view some of our reptile and outdoor videos.

  • Great video. Though i have been bitten several times over my life of snake owning, the only time i ever had any serious trouble was from a (not kidding) garter snake bite when i was in 6th grade. She was my pet, and i was afraid to hurt her by getting her off my finger. She was eating, and i reached in to move a tadpole back into her dish, when she nailed me.

Even colubrids can pack a punch if allowed to get you all the way back to their rear fangs. I was in the hospital overnight! silly me.
