The only Rhodes EP that sounded closest to a synthesizer was the notorious Mark III EP10, produced in 1980-81.
-
What about Niacin , any new material ?
-
@jaktron coz it's a Rhodes and also a midi controller.. so you can play your favorite sounds (like a NI Berlin Concert Grand, for example) and still have a realistic feel with all the hammer action in the Rhodes...
-
why layer a midi patch with the rhodes???
he still sounds sweet ad though
-
Check out the key bounce! Those were the good old days...

thanks for the video!
John and Niacin (Sheehan and Chambers) are among my favourite groups.

Got the new Mark 7. Better than the original. All the notes sound good if you know what you're doing. I had it tuned by a professional that knew how to BLEND the keyboard. All the Mark 1's come with their inherent problems. This is a much improved keyboard when tuned well. If you think this sounds like a synth, then go back to your plug in. Nothing sounds like a real Rhodes with tines and tonebars. You can't make a mechanical Rhodes wound like a synth and vice versa. You need real ears.

@halfasemitone I totally agree. We let all our New MK7 be tuned and adjusted by a professional Rhodes Tech.Have done that from day one!
The New MK7s are just awesome, when they are adjusted and tuned right.
Nothing beats them.
