In Paso Robles CA, at 12,000 miles, the rear rim wore out. An angry mechanic misaligned the spokes equally on both sides of the wheel. The bike weighs 180 pounds before my weight 50 miles from town, the weakened wheel began excessive wobble. 80 miles, and spokes started breaking.

We now install the best rim made for this application. This new rim is by Mavic, and it's the manufacturer's recommendation for touring.

  • I had to learn relacing a rim with a coaster brake hub,the hard way.couldn't afford a $50.00 wheel at the time but found a 26" 10 speed steel rim and just figured it out otherwise I couldn't ride the bike. It was a new trek classic cruiser and I put 5k miles on it within a year.I just bought a new hub for $20.00 and got it working.
