  • Unmistakeable playing! Lively, quirky, vital rythms, intricate lines & voicings, and always his full, dark & rich colors. Always fascinating. Really great. Thanx muchly!

  • Great playing, but then, what else would you expect from Medtner?

  • @nearenough3 No hes easily as good and original as Scriabin. Though I don't believe as great as Rachmaninoff. No where near as bad as Delius. His tragic sonata is absolutely phenomenal, IMO as good as any scriabin sonata.

  • Horrid as Alkan? Any particular reason for this comment?

  • I find Medtner somewhat lacking in focus as if he has some really good musical notions inside but wasn't able to quite put it together coherently as well as Chopin or Schumann would. Sort of like a Delius of the Russian school for piano. Scriabin was much better, having a unique and vivid character and superb sense of melody and structure, and Rachmaninoff the inimitable master who always had a clear point. But NM remains vaguely interesting, but nowhere near as horrid as Alkan or Sorabji.

  • i love this piece...

  • brilliant, just fantastically brilliant =))

    *im smart*, hehe
