For the people who don't already know... this guitarist is called Kelly Simonz.

This is an economy picking exercise in Em. The stiffer sounding part was in alternate picking as a contrast to explain why using economy picking for those runs was better and how it makes what he terms the "nuances" sound better in this case.
Very cool to watch.
