Completely true, Rytent, they may not give out scholarships labeled "athletic" but they find ways of throwing money at their Varsity athletes. It's also easier to get into the Ivies if you have Varsity potential even if you are lacking in academics (not dissing Alicia, I have no idea about her intellectual ability; just saying don't be fooled by mission statements)

Yep, I read it in an article/interview. I believe it was on NBC's olympic site but I could be mistaken. She was offered a full ride to UCLA but turned it down because she didn't want to switch coaches so close to the olympic games; she also wanted to stay close to home.
