@9mlock Snafu shorts were not intended for children at all. Their audience at the time was strictly military servicemen. These cartoons had too much risque material at the time to show even to regular movie patrons.

@9mlock The Private Snafu series was originally made by the man who eventually came to be known as Dr. Seuss. They were produced by Warner Brothers but made by the Dept. of Defense as humorous training videos for the Army.

This cartoon was made during WW2 as a sort of instructional video for people who enlisted in the army. After all, it was less expensive to draw a plane then film one flying right? It also kept the viewers attention more easily.
