Nikon 50mm 1.8G Review

In this video I review the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G lens. This NIKKOR 50mm 1.8G features an aspherical element, autofocus on AF-S cameras such as the Nikon D3000, D3100, D5000, D5100 and many more and comes with a HB-47 lens hood and pouch. I take an look at some sample photos and video with the Nikon 50mm 1.8G taken on a Nikon D3100 at several different settings including shutter speed, ISO, aperture and more. I also go over the build quality, 58mm filter size and whether it is worth buying over another prime lens.

  • if its you that took all these pictures, you should make a collage. I feel they reflect a somewhat creatively genius side of you

  • @KeepHerGoing123 Yep I took them all with the exception of the picture of me. I wouldn't say creatively genius though...more like idiot with a nice camera and lens. :)

  • Nice video review, but bokeh is not a.k.a. the depth-of-field. Bokeh is the quality of the blur both in the background or foreground.

  • wide-angle lens

    AF-S DX NIKKOR

    35mm f/1.8G

  • I can't choose between the 50mm and the 35mm which one do you think i should buy

  • can I autofocus this lens with nikon d60?

  • @GRILLEDPILLOW if I am correct, vignetting only happens when you use a wrong size lens hood. Try using different lens hoods and test results.

  • @felipealvarez1982 the only difference really is the aperture ring. When you see a D after the maximum aperture in the lens name, you know it has an aperture ring. G means it doesn't. The ones with the D are older and so I've heard are easy to break down or stop working and some of the older lens don't have as many of the newer lens features.

  • Could you compare the lens' performance compared with 50MM f/1.8D?

  • If you put the hood on does vignetting show up. I'm trying to add vignetting without photoshop. I have a d3100 any tips?

  • @masterprogram Prime lens can't zoom, the focal length is fixed. Zoom lens are labeled as, 18-105mm, 24-70mm.

  • buddy, you are getting better in reviews
