Luke Storm and Doug Tornquist perform Ken Steen's "Little William's Tubas" composition for the Festival of New Music in Little William Theater. From the composer: Little William is a quiet little man - some say he's deathly afraid of his own shadow - others say he is even more fearful of the sound of his own breath. Loud sounds make him shudder and vaporize. Soft sounds make him suspicious. His eardrums are actually made from the finest of hand-made tissue papers imported from exotic ports of call - and while they are most definitely replaceable, it is quite an ordeal and really quite a painful and expensive procedure. He likes it most when the sound of his own breathing is subsumed into the sound of the wind or the prevailing ambient noise floor - at that moment, he dissolves into the surrounding atmosphere, becoming as one with it, in contemplation. If you listen very carefully you may sense him near you. Little William continues to seek experiences of sound, music and noise that his delicate constitution is capable of tolerating.
So musical.
