i think if you making a challenge map it would have a couple uses. but for single player i think its completely useless.

For muiltiplayer some1 steps on a pressure plate and redstone goes to everyroom and turns on the lamps so u kno some1 is at your house/store ect.. or for a mob trap ..

For a map it'd be good. Like to fight through a room then turn on the light and mobs stop spawning. other than that it seems like it'd be for show.

But I guess you could make like a flashing light alarm or something?
