This movie(Cooley High) is one of my all time favorite movies. Love it can watch it over and over,

The film was actually directed by Michael Schulz..an african-american who also did Car Wash not Steve Krantz...this is one of the many films influenced by "I Vitteloni" directed by The Maestro Federico Fellini...see also "American Graffiti", "Mean Streets" & "Diner"

@StevesPlace59 Hey did you know that the man who directed this Movie Steve Krantz actually bought the Movie Rights To Grease and changed his mind. He lost a chance to make 400 Million Dollars. His wife is Judith Krantz who is a Romance Novelist (Princess Daisy, Scruples, I'll Take Manhattan).

I just read a comment by someone who referred to Cooley High as the black american graffiti. I've been calling it that since I saw the movie back in 1975. I'm glad someone finally got it right.
