Mass emailing by putting everyone's email in the To: section is a bad idea. Here is a way to do it and make lots of friends at the same time.

  • Blind Carbon Copy is very useful. Everyone should use it. However for your coolest emails you need to send a Def Carbon Copy.

  • @realspacemodels You mean deaf? WORD!

  • I have not noticed the channel design change yet, so thanks for pointing it out. Seems like YT listened to some feedback for once. :-)

    I wished the bcc would be obligatory. Once a friend sent me and 4 of his other friends an email, using cc ... and this way the other 4 got MY email address as well..., and I had a reason NOT to give my email address to one of them. Well, this way he got it... and there goes privacy.

  • @Nightyyou The reason is the new channel design is made by people who don't use YouTube. This gets back to my original opinion that this design is for the this new content venture of YouTube and not for channels like ours. Doubtful we'll ever be considered again. We'll still be here but probably an afterthought.

  • Good morning Bill and I got the coffee too. : ) Good advice that is so simple but so helpful. There's a lot of people that use email that don't know. Like yesterday at the start of my shift a co-worker asked, "Hey Rich, how do I open this word doc that's in my email?' (really this happened lol) I reply, "Click on it, you are using a computer you know.: lol Simple process. : ) Thanks for the advise Bill, and you have a good day Sir.

    Ciao for now,

    @FiremanRich : )

  • @TFPFP This makes you a true computer guru.

  • we are bccing our comment here:

  • Bill, I will use "bcc" when I let you know that the video you helped me with is complete! Thanks, sir

  • Be careful using BCC in a business environment. My immediate boss once sent me an email implying he was trying to protect me from the 'big boss' finding out a mistake I made, making him a hero. 10 minutes later I get a forwarded email from my 'big boss', chewing me out for the mistake. It was the same email my immediate boss sent me saying he was trying to protect me. He had BCC'd the big boss, big boss didn't notice. I lost a huge amount of respect for my immediate boss that day.

  • also remember to never on any circumstances should you hit reply all

  • Far too many people haven't grasped the concept of Bcc yet. I remember once when my school got in trouble for using Cc on an email to about 1000 parents, the parents obviously didn't like that! xD

  • Ooohhh, I thought Bcc was an ancient time period before BC! ;-P

  • I think before you even do cc or bcc you need to ask yourself 3 questions. 1. Does this email need to be sent? 2. Does this email need to be sent by me? 3. Does this email need to be sent by me right now? If you answer No to any of those questions, do us all a favor and abandon the whole thing. (3 questions slightly rephrased from a Craig Ferguson bit about him arguing with his wife.)

  • I feel like a hardcore BMTV hardcore fan. I took one look at the title and thought it was a re-upload :P The only time I can remember anything is on youtube

  • I don't think Google are a big fan of testing, and rightfully so. Some companies spend all this time on testing future releases only to either never release anything, or overlook something big and then get blasted for it anyway. Google's 'throw it out there and fix whatever breaks later' approach allows them to be much more flexible and efficient with their time. (Of course, every time something does break, it adds a little frustration on the user side but hopefully that remains short-term.)
