A spectacular beat-down handed to me from the surf at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, Oregon. There are plenty of things I should have done, such as had my mirage drive locked in and ready to go so I could use that once I got past the spillers. Had I met that wave about ten feet farther out, I probably would have popped right over it like the first two. But then I wouldn't have this hilarious video to show you, would I? Special thanks Hobie Kayaks and Next Adventure Paddle Sports!
Cheers!

  • Awesome vid :-). Man those waves just kept coming didn't they! Looks like a beautiful spot. I think I have seen a similar clip on a kayak fishing forum, is it a popular kayaking/fishing spot? How did you have your camera mounted?

  • @Nakiyakker Yeah, that's a pretty popular spot on the Oregon coast for kayak fishing/kayaking/surfing since access to the ocean is pretty limited along the coast. I had my camera on a camera extender arm called an Xshot, but that rusted out and broke on me. I made my own out of PVC and a camera tripod. I usually have it positioned in a rod holder behind me to get that over-the-shoulder shot.

  • were you using a go pro?

  • @imodyoumom I'm using a Kodak Playsport Zx3

  • good video ! Enjoyed watching.

  • nice video! looked like a two wave hold down haha

  • hey dude... id go surf there alone. ive already thought of this when i was lil... hope to make it there someday...

  • I've been handed my ass a few times while surfing, so I can totally relate to this experience on the yak. I've never gotten up the guts to tackle 3-5' surf with my sit on top, but when I do, I'll follow your lead and lash every last thing down. The fact that you didn't lose the camera is terrific. Well done!

  • Totally, so awesome. Thanks for sharing. You know we've all been there before.

  • That was awesome!
