These are a couple video clips I threw together testing out my new Canon SD780 IS camera in the 720P HD mode. It was a real cloudy overcast day so it was kind of a bad time but like I said...just wanted to test out an HD upload to YouTube. This is a drive up into the foothills of the Sandia Mountains at the very northeast edge of Albuquerque. New Mexico. Some of the road was rough so sorry about all the vibration. Like I said. This was just a test run. :-)

  • did you have it on normal or infiinity? looks odd to me

  • I had it set on normal. As I said in the description....it was an extremely overcast day so it was not really great for taking the video. This was my initial test. Wanted to upload it to You Tube to see what it looked like. The camera is really small so I'm not sure how great the IS feature comes in to play if you are walking and bouncing around. It does works great if you are pretty still while shooting. If you own one you'll know what I mean. But....I need better zoom capability.

  • Hey Sandiaman,

I've driven that road many, many times in the past 25 years. Hope your enjoying your new Canon HD camera, I know I'm enjoying my new Panasonic HD camera!! I hope you take some video of the TWA crash site near my new cache on the Domingo Baca Trail. I'm interested to see if you approach it from the La Luz Trail like ganelo suggest in his book. We walked up the steep canyon to around 9400 ft., but eventually lost the trail in the thick tree cover.

    Jeff

  • Losing the trail. I would not want to do that after walking all that ways. That's why I mention to you the idea of approaching it from the top. Thinking about doing it in the next couple weeks. I'll make sure to have your cache loaded in my GPSr. By the way, that Canon SD780 is ok but the zoom is crap. Totally useless in HD mode, but you can't expect it all for a totally new camera design I guess. Super small and costs less then 300 bucks. Hard to beat for the HD feature.

  • Great! Very helpful Im considering this camera also, how large was the original file of this 6 min video on the SD card?

  • Just did a search and found it. It was 220 meg.

  • Hey how's the photo quality on the camera? Also how's the mic on it? I see that it picks up a lot of background noise on the videos that i seen but is the sound bearable when recording loud situations? Thanks.

  • I wish it did 60fps...seems choppy

  • yeah when u publish it u have to put it in an HD format

  • Good camera test, thanks. Albequerque looks pretty nice too. I almost went there for work, now I'm wishing I did.

  • can you edit your vidoes with windows movie maker and still keep the HD format?

  • its like when your leaving town i hate albuquerque lol

  • Do you use Windows Movie Maker

  • I'm thinking of getting one of these.. It does save in H.264 avi format right? What was the building you arrived at? The brick work with morter looks European by design.. but perhaps it was something else..? Just curious. Also, did I hear you set your car alarm when you got out? hehe.. You can't trust anyone these days.. seriously...
