Oscar Pistorius 'shooting his girlfriend': 'Many South Africans own guns for protection'

South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius is in police custody after he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend in the early hours of the morning believing she was an intruder. Aislinn Laing, the Telegraph's South Africa correspondent, reports from Pretoria.

Justice for Reeva...

This case is quite simple: O.P shot Reeva, no-one else. What is not simple is: why? (...intent+motive/premeditated or....absolute gross neglicence...or....a third possibility not yet fully understood). One way or another - a person is punished for killing someone - imprisonment and isolation exists outside the walls of a prison cell too. People "forgive" (tolerate actually), but no-one forgets. I have little doubt that in the end - justice will be served : prison sentence or not.
